Hotel La Baita
Surrounded by meadows and woods, set in a shady garden, the mountain hotel "La Baita" is at the top of the ravishing village of Corfino, 850 metres above sea level, on the slopes of the "Pania di Corfino", in the part of northern Tuscany known as the Garfagnana.
The hotel has 16 double rooms, a restaurant, and comfortable lounges.
The calm atmosphere of a small family hotel makes it an ideal place for people who like a relaxing holiday in close contact with nature.
In the restaurant you can try local dishes such as farro (a mountain variety of wheat), gnocchi, pasta, mushrooms, naturally-reared meat, trout, and the excellent Garfagnana cheeses.
For walkers La Baita is an ideal base for numerous paths in the Orecchiella nature reserve.
Among other worthwhile excursions you can easily reach the market town Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Barga, San Pellegrino in Alpe, the Grotta del Vento ("cave of the wind"), Lucca, Pisa, and the many beautiful and historic villages of the leafy Garfagnana.
